Course objectives:
|
During lectures, that will be conducted in Czech, students will learn about the destiny and work of outstanding Russian poets and novelists from modernism till the beginning of 40 of 20 century. Literary-historical and literary-theoretical relations of works of selected personalities will be stressed, its origin and specificity of Russian literature in general will be shown. Further the topic of the course concentrates on the life and work of the most important Russian writers in the 2 half of the 20 century as well as on characteristics of various streams in Russian literature of this period.
In seminars primary texts will be analysed and interpreted.

Requirements on student
|
The course ends with combined exam which will check students? knowledge of lectures and obligatory literature. Each student has to demonstrate the knowledge of five books which were approved at the beginnig of the semester by teacher. Student regullary reads given texts in Czech and foreign language and works on tasks which will be checked by teacher. Each student presents during the semester chosen literary work approved by teacher in the first week of the semester. The length of the oral presentation is 10-20 minutes. Student has to work out a seminar paper containing an interpretation of in advance chosen literary work. Extent of the work: 10-20 pages.

Learning outcomes
|
Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will be thoroughly familiar with the development of Russian literature of the 20th century. They will be able to lead a detailed discussion on particular topics dealt with in the seminar, to connect the given author with the context of a period the author lived in. Students will also be able to identify the key thoughts of each of the authors dealt with in the seminar as well as to interpret them in connection with theoretical knowledge gained in the course.
